Amanda Prophett

Amanda Prophett is the SOLACE Education Chair. She is a wife and mother to a 3-year-old daughter, and 3 rescue pets.

Amanda has an MPH in Global Public Health and is Certified Health Education Specialist. She has over a decade of experience in K-12 and higher education. During her final semester of her MPH program, Amanda sustained a 4 th degree tear in childbirth. After struggling to find resources and education materials about her injury, she decided to focus her capstone learning experience on researching OASI and presented a program proposal as her culminating project. After years of pelvic floor physical therapy, diagnostic testing, and various treatments, Amanda was able to return to her active lifestyle and enjoys playing tennis and being outside with her daughter.

Amanda has spoken about birth injuries at conferences, developed OASI education materials, and believes that education is empowerment. She recently discovered SOLACE and joined efforts to further their mission of bringing education to all women and care providers in the hopes of reducing and preventing OASI, as well as supporting those with OASI with better resources and care standards. Amanda's experience in public health and education, along with her personal OASI journey, have made her passionate about fostering change in the women's health arena.
